Balloon Boy is Officially a Hoax

After the world glued themselves to their television set, computers, and mobile devices, to see if "balloon boy" was ok, Colorado authorities in Larimer County are now declaring it a hoax and are going to press charges next week.

Richard Heene and his wife, Mayumi, could be charged with conspiracy, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, making a false report to authorities and attempting to influence a public servant. Federal charges are also possible which could land the parents six-years in prison.

"We certainly know that there's a conspiracy between the husband and wife, you've probably seen some of the e-mails and some of the things on the Internet suggesting that there may be other conspirators," said Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden.

Also a 25-year-old researcher who says he's friends with Richard Heene came forward and said that he and Richard both "drew up a master plan to generate a massive media controversy using a weather balloon. To get famous, of course."
