Canadian Figure Skater medal hopeful Joannie Rochette's mother died Saturday Night in Vancouver. Rochette's mother had just arrived when she had a heart attack and was rushed to the Vancouver General Hospital. Thérèse Rochette, 55,passed away at the hospital.
Joannie was given the news by her father Normand at the Olympic Village this morning.
Olympic officials said Rochette intends to compete at the Olympics, despite the shock of her mother's death. Rochette skates Tuesday Feb. 23 @ 5:30pm MST and Feb. 15 @ 6:00pm MST.
