"We Are The World" will debut at 2010 Vancouver Olympics

Singers and celebrities came together on Monday Feb. 1 in Los Angeles to re-record the 25th anniversary single "We Are the World" to benefit earthquake relief in Haiti.

Lionel Richie and Quincy Jones, who worked behind the scenes, said no artists from the original "We Are the World" recording session were included, Richie decided to showcase a new generation of talent this time of round. This re-make version of the ballad first composed to benefit famine relief in Africa will be officially called "We are the World – 25 for Haiti" and will premiere during the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver on Feb. 12. The recording session was also recorded in 3D aswell. All proceeds will go to earthquake relief efforts.

Internet rumors are buzzing that Taylor Swift didn't take part in the gathering because of the attendance of Kanye West, but her management said she had to fly out after the Grammy's for her Australian Tour. Other no shows were Beyonce, Jay-Z, and Lady Gaga.. who were rumored to have had cold feet to take part.
