Betty White Boosts Ratings for SNL

Betty White's guest appearance on Saturday Night Live was a success, in fact her appearance boosted the ratings by 66-percent from last years ratings, bringing the largest TV audience in the last 18 months.

The last overnight boost in ratings for SNL was back in November 2008 when U.S. Senator John McCain came on as a special guest during his presidential campaign along side comedian Tina Fey and former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Betty's SNL success was in large part credited to a Facebook campaign to get the show’s producers to hire her as guest host, Betty in fact made fun of the social networking site on the Web.  She remarked "Now that I know what it is, it felt like a huge waste of time."
