Golden Girl Rue McClanahan Dies at Age 76..

Actress Rue McClanahan, best know for her role as sexy and out-going Blanche Devereaux on the 80s TV hit "The Golden Girls", has passed away at age 76, according to a statement by her manager Barbara Lawrence.

Lawrence, says the actress passed away at 1 AM this morning (Thursday) at a hospital in New York after she suffered a massive stroke on Monday.  Rue's son, sister, and nephew were at her side when she passed.

In a statement released this morning by fellow cast mate and friend Betty White, she states, "Rue was a close and dear friend. I treasured our relationship. It hurts more than I even thought it would, if that's even possible."

Other TV credits Rue was known for were roles on Another World, Maude, Mama’s Family, and roles in films such as Out To Sea, Starship Troopers and The Fighting Temptations.
