2010 Calgary Stampede Parade Details & Highlights...


The official kick-off to the 2010 Calgary Stampede & Exhibition begins this Friday.  And if you are attending the parade in the heart of downtown, these are the times you should be aware of.

Prelude entertainment which includes clown acts, musical entertainment, and mascots, begins at 7:30 a.m along the parade route.  The main Parade begins at 8:55 a.m. at the start of the parade route on 6th Ave SE. and then reaches the Calgary Tower on 9th Ave S.W. around 9:30am. where it will be broadcast live on CBC.  So please note,  the parade will begin at different times along the route

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PARADE:
  • The Snowbirds flyover sequence will begin at 8:55am.
  • The introduction of the new pyrotechnics show will follow the Snowbirds.
  • The Parade Marshals Jet & Cord McCoy of Amazing Race will lead the Parade down the parade route.
  • The Parade has about 267 entrants this year, over 3000 people taking part, and showcasing over 750 horses.
  • The Calgary Fire Department and the Calgary Police Service is celebrating 125 years of service... and they will be showcased in the Parade.
  • Winter Olympics Medalists from the Calgary area will be making appearances in the parade.
