Remembering Elvis Presley on the Anniversary of his Death Today...

It's been 33 years today since the death of Elvis Presley, aka. “The King of Rock and Roll”, was heard around the world.  Presley is regarded as one of the most important figures of 20th-century popular culture. He had a versatile voice and unusually wide success encompassing many genres, including country, pop ballads, gospel, and blues.  He is the best-selling solo artist in the history of popular music.Nominated for 14 competitive Grammys, he won three, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36. It was on this day , Presley was found unconscious in his palatial home called “Graceland” in Memphis, and was pronounced dead in a hospital. The local medical examiner blamed his death on an overdose of mixed drugs and complications of severe heart disease. Presley was just 42-years-old and his cultural appeal still endures. To this date, many older Americans can tell you exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard that Elvis Presley died on this date in history, August 16, 1977.
