What Ever Happen To Shania Twain?

It has been nearly seven-years since Shania Twain released any new songs and it seems she has just dropped from the face of the earth.  One-day she is a country-pop icon so big, her hits were over played on the radio in all genres and her presence on television was unavoidable,  to one-day having no new music and no appearances scheduled.  It just didnt make sense!  Shania rose to fame in the mid 90's with her 1995 album "The Woman in Me". and achieved worldwide success with her 1997 album "Come on Over", which became the best-selling album of all time by a female musician in any genre, and the best-selling country album of all time.  "Come On Over" sold over 40 million copies worldwide and is the 9th best selling Album in US history.  Then in 2004 Shania released her "Greatest Hits" album which then finished 2005 as the highest selling country album in the U.S.  A five time Grammy award winner, 27 BMI Songwriter Awards, and the only female musician to have three albums certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America... with all this success and pretty much the world as her fan base, why did Shania stop releasing music and why did she disappear?  One has to ask, what ever happen to Shania Twain?

After years of being out of the public spotlight since her last album in 2004, fans of Shania were kind of getting concerned when no new album was being mentioned by her label.  In fact her label didn't even know when they were getting new material from Shania.  Forums were buzzing wondering if she was ok, and many were wondering why was she in hiding.  Shania's fans just didn't know what was up with her until back in May 2008 when some light dawned on Shania's personal life when rumors were floating around on the web that her husband Mutt Lang was cheating on her.  Reps from Mutt's camp denied the reports at first and all seemed to be ok again, until a few days later, Shania announced that she was divorcing her husband.  Now that was a shocker!!!  The power couple that broke records in the music industry...are no more.  That's when the world realized, is Shania ok?

After leading a very private and recluse life after her divorce, Shania has now come out of her bubble to talk to her fans and the world about what has been going on in her life.  And it does explain alot why she disappeared for a while.  Starting in May, Shania will share her life in a docu-series kind of show for Oprah Winfrey's Network (OWN) about what has been going on in her world.  She does admit that she lost the drive to express herself and the ability to sing as her marriage was breaking down at the same time. She simply admitted she lost the comfort of performing!  So to overcome the pain and personal struggles that were bringing her down, Shania decided she had to snap out of it and add meaning to her life again, so she decided to take OWN on the road with her, her sister, her bandmates, and closest confidants across the U.S and Canada to help her overcome her personal depression by hearing other people's disappointments, emotional crisis's, and deep life struggles.  Shania basically inspires her self to write, sing, and perform again..simply by hearing real people's stories.  Way to go Shania!!!
