Kickstart the Festive Season this Saturday at the Fort Macleod Santa Claus Parade..

Calgary are you a bit bummed that we are the only major city in Canada that doesn't have a Santa Claus Parade?  If so, why don't you pack the family up and head south to Fort Macleod for their 30th Annual Santa Claus Parade on Saturday Nov. 26 @ 11am.

The Fort Macleod Santa Claus Parade has been around since 1982 and every year it just become better.  Special guest this year will include Miss Teen Canada International Nakita Kohan and the Calgary Flames’ own Harvey the Hound, with the Man of Honour being (of course) Santa Claus himself!

Event Highlights:
  • Visitors can stock up on Christmas gifts during the Giant Stocking Sale on Saturday morning, Nov. 26 at the Fort Macleod and District Community Hall. A variety of crafts and home-made items are sold during this event organized by the Allied Arts Society of Fort Macleod.
  • Children can have their photographs taken with Santa at The Macleod Gazette immediately following the parade. Proceeds are donated to a local charitable organization.
  • Free children's movies at the Empress Theater following the parade.
  • The Rotary Club of Fort Macleod hosts its annual fund-raising auction Saturday afternoon.
  • Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump holds Heritage Through My Hands, a celebration of Blackfoot Culture, following the parade.
  • Monster Truck Rides
  • Family Dance at the Fort Macleod and District Community Hall on Saturday night.

Did You Know?:
The Fort Macleod Santa Claus Parade is the largest of its kind in western Canada. Floats galore, marching bands, street entertainers and Santa himself bring in the Christmas Spirit! More than 10,000 people line the streets to welcome Santa and his special guests. The parade opens with the Town Crier in horse and buggy, calling out the news that Santa is on his way!  The parade usually lasts about a hour or so with loads of festive cheer.

Again the Parade starts at 11am on Saturday Nov. 26 on Main  Street.  If you attend, hope you all have a safe and fun trip.
